MUNICIPALITY OF TOURIST INTEREST
A charming and welcoming city. Full of natural beauties, history, culture and centuries-old tradition. Laranjal Paulista was elevated to Municipality of Tourist Interest by Law 16,720, enacted on May 15, 2018, after a careful selection that involved an integrated work between the Legislative Assembly and the Government of the State of São Paulo.
To be considered a Municipality of Tourist Interest it is necessary that the city has tourist potential, capacity for emergency medical service, means of accommodation in the place or in the region, food services and tourist information service. In addition to having infrastructure and basic sanitation service capable of serving the fixed population and visitors. To encourage tourism as a means to foster economic development and employment, towns annually receive resources of approximately R$ 650,000 (around US$ 123,000) from projects that must be presented and approved.
Laranjal Paulista is also a member of AMITESP - Associação das Prefeituras dos Municípios de Interesse Turístico do Estado de São Paulo (City Halls of Municipalities of Tourist Interest Association in the State of São Paulo) and has already been contemplated in four projects, with a total contribution of R$ x thousand in state investments: in 2018, with the implementation of ""Praça do Ciclista"" (Cyclist Square), tourist signs, restoration of the overlook and new Cruzeiro; in 2019, construction of Parque do Pedro Zanella (Pedro Zanella's Park), requalification of the public square and restoration of the fountain; in 2020, revitalization of the town entrance; in 2022, Espaço Cultural dos Tropeiros (Tropeiros Cultural Place) and 2nd stage of tourist signage (in bidding).
And it doesn't stop there, many other projects are already being designed by the town, with partnership, indications and approval of COMTUR - Conselho Municipal do Turismo (Municipal Tourism Council), which has a advisory and deliberative nature.
ROOTS OF THE COUNTRYSIDE
The town is also part of the Microrregião Turística Raízes do Interior Paulista (Roots of São Paulo Countryside Tourist Microregion), which was officially created on June 29, 2017 with the objective of promoting the synchronization of tourist actions between towns, focusing on the dissemination of attractions, itineraries and events agenda.
Included in the Brazilian Tourism Map, it was conceived in accordance with Ordinance No. 205/2015 of the Ministry of Tourism, which guides neighboring towns that have similar characteristics, such as historical, cultural, economic and geographic identity, to carry out integrated actions.
Besides Laranjal Paulista, other towns like Tatuí, Boituva, Cesário Lange, Quadra, Pereiras, Porangaba, Jumirim, Torre de Pedra and Cerquilho are part of the tourist microregion.
